MELAYU karya USMAN AWANG

Melayu itu orang yang bijaksana
Nakalnya bersulam jenaka
Budi bahasanya tidak terkira
Kurang ajarnya tetap santun
Jika menipu pun masih bersopan
Bila mengampu bijak beralas tangan.
Melayu itu berani jika bersalah
Kecut takut kerana benar,
Janji simpan di perut
Selalu pecah di mulut,
Biar mati adat Jangan mati anak.

Melayu di tanah Semenanjung luas maknanya:
Jawa itu Melayu, Bugis itu Melayu
Banjar juga disebut Melayu,
Minangkabau memang Melayu,
Keturunan Acheh adalah Melayu,
Jakun dan Sakai asli Melayu,
Arab dan Pakistani, semua Melayu
Mamak dan Malbari serap ke Melayu
Malah mua'alaf bertakrif Melayu

Dalam sejarahnya Melayu itu pengembara lautan
Melorongkan jalur sejarah zaman
Begitu luas daerah sempadan
Sayangnya kini segala kehilangan

Melayu itu kaya falsafahnya
Kias kata bidal pusaka
Akar budi bersulamkan daya
Gedung akal laut bicara

Malangnya Melayu itu kuat bersorak
Terlalu ghairah pesta temasya
Sedangkan kampung telah tergadai
Sawah sejalur tinggal sejengkal
tanah sebidang mudah terjual

Meski telah memiliki telaga
Tangan masih memegang tali
Sedang orang mencapai timba.
Berbuahlah pisang tiga kali
Melayu itu masih bermimpi
Walaupun sudah mengenal universiti
Masih berdagang di rumah sendiri.

Berkelahi cara Melayu
Menikam dengan pantun
Menyanggah dengan senyum
Marahnya dengan diam
Merendah bukan menyembah
Meninggi bukan melonjak.

Watak Melayu menolak permusuhan
Setia dan sabar tiada sempadan
Tapi jika marah tak nampak telinga
Musuh dicari ke lubang cacing
Tak dapat tanduk telinga dijinjing
Maruah dan agama dihina jangan
Hebat amuknya tak kenal lawan

Berdamai cara Melayu indah sekali
Silaturrahim hati yang murni
Maaf diungkap senantiasa bersahut
Tangan diulur sentiasa bersambut
Luka pun tidak lagi berparut

Baiknya hati Melayu itu tak terbandingkan
Selagi yang ada sanggup diberikan
Sehingga tercipta sebuah kiasan:
"Dagang lalu nasi ditanakkan
Suami pulang lapar tak makan
Kera di hutan disusu-susukan
Anak di pangkuan mati kebuluran"

Bagaimanakah Melayu abad dua puluh satu
Masihkan tunduk tersipu-sipu?
Jangan takut melanggar pantang
Jika pantang menghalang kemajuan;
Jangan segan menentang larangan
Jika yakin kepada kebenaran;
Jangan malu mengucapkan keyakinan
Jika percaya kepada keadilan

Jadilah bangsa yang bijaksana
Memegang tali memegang timba
Memiliki ekonomi mencipta budaya
Menjadi tuan di negara Merdeka

Responsibilities and how you take on it…

It not easy these days… The younger generation is yearning for more money but not willing to take charge. Maybe am just biased, as you may say, the percentage whom I met and work with doesn’t reflect most of them… but somehow, this is what happens…

I was on sick leave. The fever just won’t get away and I was in bed most of the time. Came to office 1 day and for the next 2 or 3 days, can’t even lift my head nor even hands. My condition was very bad and suspected dengue for second time (luckily it was not!). The haze was bad in Klang and the construction works right in front of my place is making the fever + cough + flu worsen.

Office is not priority and outstation shooting is a no-no. Elly can’t help out with JM and WFB. She’s in-charge of another production and she’s living a nocturnal life as she has to go through editing at Cinequip from 6pm to 3am (exaggerated but 80% true!). I tried to persuade Hamid that Jumie and Liza CAN do production accordingly. I think this is high time for Jumie to take charge and show to boss that she can actually manages production and who knows from then boss will increase her salary (if, of course… I heard rumour that she told Reena if boss don’t give her high salary, she won’t want to work anymore! But I don’t think she deserve much as she can’t do much and can’t work under pressure)… and giving her more managerial tasks to handle with. I think its right time for her to becoming next producer.

To my dismay, my moves were misinterpreted. For both Jumie and Liza, seems like I ‘lepas tangan’. Not wanting to help and leaving everything for both of them to solve.

I’m not sure whether giving them the wrong direction or it just me that don’t know how to manage people. I think Jumie has learnt enough to know exactly how production runs; she has been working with us for more than a year! Or is it something in her head that she can’t see what I’m trying to do…

What the heck! Just ignore them... maybe this is the advice that you’d give me. On the other hand, they are actually being evaluated by boss. Boss will ask ME whether they are ‘WORTHY’ to work with us. If I lied, my ‘sakit jantung’ of their perangai will hurt more… If I tell boss the truth, it’ll somehow jeopardise their career. So tell me what to do… type YES for agreeing to lie and risking me to suffer more heart attack, OR type NO for telling boss the truth and don’t give a damn about them… send your answer by filling in the comment column. the answer is in you hand. thank you for your cooperation.

I’ve met many who are young (I’m not that old, but maybe I learned the hard way), but most of them acting the same way as Jumie… want more money but less work… thought they are trendy + pretty looking but empty headed @ stupid. Or… maybe I’m just biased. Or… maybe I’m the unlucky one to meet those 10% young people with stupidity in their head.
